Until recently, there has been very little transparency into our work.

  1. Did my dog walker/pet sitter come today?
  2. How long was she here?
  3. Did he really walked my dogs or played with his phone in the yard?

To answer these questions, we use a real-time GPS tracking system that provides all parties with certainty that your pet is being taken care of. We do this by using barcodes, smart phones, email alerts, GPS tracking, and online tools for accuracy and convenience.




When you sign up with Big Sky Dogs, we will assign you a unique barcode. This code will stay at your house as every code is different for every client. The code is printed on a magnet which can be placed on your refrigerator or other metallic surfaces.

Smart Phones

We use our smart phones to scan the barcode when we arrive at your house AND when we leave. Every time we scan the code, it generates a timestamp and it is recorded in our system. This is our way of “clocking in” and “clocking out”.



Email Alerts

Each time we scan in (or scan out), you will receive an email letting you know that we arrived (or left). In the email, there is a link to a Google Map that tracks our whereabouts on the walk.

GPS Tracking

The GPS function on our phones will start tracking where we walk and record the locations every few minutes. Every time it records our location, it puts a mark on the map. At the end of the walk, you get a map of the route.

This system also allows you to…

  1. Maintain and monitor your schedule.
  2. Store pertinent information about you and your pets.
  3. View past walks along with time stamps and walk route.


Same for dog walking and pet sitting.  Rates are the same for up to two dogs.
